Standing in Your Light: Cradling Your Body As It Weaves Into the Land
This is a version of a practice that David Spangler calls “creating grail space.” In this exercise, you are weaving energetic threads or lines of attunement with your immediate environment using various objects in that environment todo so. It helps to ground and anchor you in the specific place where your body is, and it creates a collaborative field of energy that supports the subtle work. You are creating wholeness through Grail Space.
1—Begin by standing in your sovereignty, feeling the strength and integrity of your identity and personhood. See/feel this as a “spine” of self light within you. Let this light expand out into your subtle field.
2—Choose a “story carrier.” Look around, and choose something in this field to represent the vision that guides you in your life, and your ability to form connections and relationships that will help you accomplish that vision.
Your relationships and connections affect the course of your life. Many choices about the relationships you form are made on the basis of what you would like to accomplish and what goals you have in your life. On the other hand, sometimes connections are made and relationships established that bring new vision and goals to you and shape your life in unexpected ways.
This presence can stand for the quality and form of relationships in your life with places, people, vocation. But it can also mean the stories you tell yourself about your life from which you draw meaning and direction. These are the stories that enable you to relate to yourself and connect to your own past and goals. These are the stories you use to navigate and make choices. This doesn’t mean the stories are correct or helpful, only that you are weaving those stories and they will have an effect on shaping your life.
Look at your stories again and see just what effect they are having. You will know when you consult your felt sense.
3—Choose 3 anchor points. Looking around you, pick three other objects in your immediate surroundings to be anchor points. You can use pieces of furniture, the floor, the walls, plants, anything that’s stationary and won’t move out of the environment while you’re working (in other words, don’t use animals or people).
4—Choose a tree that you can see from where you are, or if you can’t see a tree, remember a tree that you love.
5—Choose the earth. Use the earth itself as one of your points of connection.
6—Choose your bones. Your bones are made from the earth.
7—Weave a web. In whatever way feels comfortable to you, from your energy field extend a felt sense of appreciation, love and attunement to each of these elements of your space, imagining a line of energy running from you to each of them.
8—Ask the help of all of these anchor points in creating a collaborative field of energy within the environment. Take a moment to sense this field developing. Invite the sacred life within these objects to partner with you.
Expand your sense of your own field into this larger field, this collaborative field.
Notice: How does it feel to stand in this larger field as compared to being in your personal field alone?
9—Take a moment to attune to the felt sense of being in your energy field, and how your field can be a field of blessing shaped by how you stand in it.
Give thanks to the space around you and to each of the objects that you used to anchor your energetic weaving threads.
Then withdraw your energy back into your own field, ground yourself, and finish by standing in your sovereignty.
