Standing in Your Light: A Wholeness Practice

Like any challenge, this time calls forth to the sacredness within you. It calls forth to that part of you that has courage, that can rise to the occasion. It calls out to your compassion and your love, in the ways that you can look out for each other. When habits are thwarted, growth and new vision can emerge. This is a powerful time, one that many of you have trained for as first responders of the spirit and generators of Light. When the fabric of your civilization seems to come apart, this is when you can weave new threads into the fabric. Wholeness is there to be created. Let fear, if it comes, be an ally to open you to new possibilities. See yourselves in new ways. This is a time of opportunity. You are more than equal to the task!
– Marcus (David Spangler’s Subtle Colleague)

Take time each day to sit in awareness of your wholeness. This doesn't have to be long, though it can be as long as you wish and are comfortably engaged with the practice. Think of it not as a ritual or a meditation, but as an exploration, an inquiry, a wondering, an invitation, opening a space for something to emerge, no expectations. Let it become your regular, daily personal practice. Make it your own, guided by how it feels to you.

In this practice, you will attune to each of your separate "functions”– your body, your mind, your emotions, your subtle body, and your soul.

Begin by attuning to your sovereignty, your power to make the choices and take the actions that shape who you are and how you express in the world. It is the energy arising from the intent of the soul to engage with the incarnate realms.

Attune to your self-light: your soul becoming you generates and radiates a unique expression of light that is attuned to the wavelength of the incarnate world. We are a generative source, a “star” in our own right and not just a “planet” reflecting the Light from other sources. Feel this capacity functioning in you.

Visualize or sense into something that brings you calm and a sense of serenity. It might be an image from nature, some music, movement or dance, or something you’ve read that inspires and uplifts you. Allow the power and calming influence of that image to fill you.

Feel yourself dropping in to your body.

Imagine that, seated in a circle around you as individuals, are:
– your body
– your mind
– your emotions
– your subtle body
– your soul, your connection to source, the Sacred

These functions are your “incarnational team” whose activity creates and shapes your life. You have called them all together into an "appreciation circle," thanking and acknowledging each of them for being part of a larger whole that is you, engaging with and shaping your life Give each of these parts of yourself your love and appreciation for what each contributes to your wholeness and life.

Use image, movement, memory, body sensation— experiment to notice what feels right.

Activate the energy meridians
Using image, movement, memory, body sensation, or just knowing:
– Bring calm awareness to your body; lightly hold your thumb.
– Bring calm awareness to your mind; lightly hold your index finger.
– Bring calm awareness to your emotions; lightly hold your middle finger.
– Bring calm awareness to your subtle body (sphere around you, aura, energy field that is you); lightly hold your ring finger.
– Bring calm awareness to your soul; lightly hold your pinky finger.
– Hold your hands together, finger tips together, as if you are cradling a ball.

Again, thank and acknowledge each part of your incarnational team for being part of a larger whole that is you, engaging with and shaping your life. You are all sitting in a circle together. Notice how you are aware of this experience. Are you an observer? Do you take the role of one of the elements? Try different possibilities.

Heart cradling
– Cross your arms on your chest over your sternum.
– Tap your fingers lightly in the “corners “ where your upper arms and collar bones meet.

Step into your presence
Imagine a flame of Light arising at the center of the circle, enveloping you. This light arises from your sovereignty and your self-light. It is the light of your incarnate presence, your incarnate wholeness.

See each of your parts stepping into you, merging with this self-light, this presence. As they do, feel this light increase and expand, becoming a sphere or a field of light surrounding you. This is the presence of your wholeness being called forth, recognized, acknowledged, and affirmed.

Feel yourself standing in your presence. Take however long you need to gain a felt sense of this presence of wholeness.

When you feel finished, imagine each of your "parts" – your body, your mind, your emotions, your energy field, your soul – reappearing around you as your “team,” but now seeing/sensing each of them radiant with the light of your presence and connected with you as a wholeness.

End by standing in your sense of sovereignty again.

You don’t have to stand up, though you can. What is important is to feel the standing, sovereign sense of incarnating the Sacred in your body, as your presence in the world.
