Another Take on the Lorian Still Point

The audio recording of the Stillpoint Town Hall in the Commons is available at the end of this blog.

If you have been keeping up with your newsletters from Lorian, you have already been made aware that Lorian is entering a "still point" for the next 6 months or so. David and Jeremy’s letter has described clearly what we are choosing to focus on and why. You are welcome to go back and read it again before I add my two cents here.

What I want to share is that this pause in activity isn’t coming out of the blue for us. We have felt a change in our work coming for a few years now, and while it was not readily articulated and translated into words or vision, it was a strong intuitive sense of an emergent presence that would add depth and breadth to the body of work we have already grounded. It became clear, this spring, that the time had come to let this change take the forefront of our attention, to sense its shape rather than trying to make it fit into the shape our organization already had.

The Angel of Lorian has always been a large and fluid presence. It doesn’t land into structure easily, which is probably why we have to keep dancing with it, feeling its rhythms in response to the changing times we are in, and changing our steps in alignment with it.

This is also not the first time Lorian has stepped into a time of shifting rhythms. There have been several times in the history of developing Lorian that we have shifted gears as we sensed our way into what was needed from us. Each time, there was a letting go of external activity for a time which always ended with an influx of new energy, creativity, insights and a further grounding of what has become Incarnational Spirituality.

As we enter our stillpoint, we hold an awareness that we aren’t entering into it alone. We feel all of you who have been participating in the spiritual impulse that is Incarnational Spirituality. We have so much appreciation for how you all hold this work with us, and in your own ways in your own lives. And we also believe that it is not only Lorian that is experiencing this need for a still point. Many spiritual groups and activities we are in contact with have been forced to cancel plans for 2025. It seems that there is a universal moment we are responding to… stop, listen and open to a greater field of possibility and presence. What Lorian is responding to is only one part of a global process of renewal and reception of an inpouring of light to the world. This time in history is what we are here to be a part of, to support a movement into a new emergence of light and to serve our planet.

Our task is always to hold presence, to be points of light and joy and love, and of course peace, in a world in transition. The more individuals capable of holding this inner spaciousness, the bigger the light we hold together. Each person who chooses to hold this still point with us brings their unique gifts, enriching the collective field and expanding the breadth and depth of what we hold.

So we invite you to join us in this period of renewal and preparation for what comes next, in whatever way makes sense for you to do so. This is not a withdrawal or retreat, but an intentional centering, honoring the life and light we hold, arms out ready to catch with love and hold in our laps that emergent bud of new growth.

During this time when we aren’t teaching new classes, it might be a wonderful opportunity to revisit the classes you have taken previously in your Lorian classroom archive. You may find that the content of those classes settles in you in a new way, or you might discover insights that eluded you the first time through. This also may be a potent time to visit the Lorian Press Bookstore, and we will continue to have opportunities for connection in the Commons, and will be hosting meditations there through the coming months to bring focus to this still point we are creating.

Finally, we invite you to use this time for your own inner attunement, to listen deeply to what wants to emerge through you, and to join us in holding a field of possibility for what lies ahead. Lorian is blessed to have you helping to create a lap to hold the flow of light and love that is its focus and is so needed in our world.

With love and blessings,
Julia Spangler
