In 2011, both David Spangler and Jeremy Berg experienced independent but related contacts with a group of Sidhe. These Sidhe were interested in promoting closer contact and collaboration with humanity. Led by a Sidhe woman named Mariel, this contact resulted in the creation of the Card Deck of the Sidhe. This deck is a part of the ongoing exploration and collaboration with the Sidhe, as they seek to have a greater partnership with humanity in the twenty-first century. This beautifully illustrated Card Deck of the Sidhe is composed of both the original and extension decks comprising a 55 card full color, poker sized (2.5"X 3.5") deck which come in a fabric carrying pouch. The Sidhe: Wisdom from the celtic otherworlds

This fascinating book by John traces his connection and conversation with a "Faery" or member of the Sidhe community. It is full of wisdom and interesting detail about this "cousin" of humanity. This book is based on a series of conversations between the Sidhe and David Spangler. It offers a fresh vision of the "Faery worlds" and invites the reader into a new relationship with these "People of Peace". Unfolding within these pages is a remarkable record of communication with the "Shining Ones", our ancient kin. It is filled with wonder, exercises, methods of contact and practical wisdom.

Engaging with the sidhe

In 2011, David Spangler was unexpectedly contacted by a non-physical woman who identified herself as one of the Sidhe (pronounced shee), a legendary race of beings known to the ancient Celts as the People of Peace among other names.

The woman said she was part of a project to encourage and assist more contact between her people and humanity. To this end, she presented David and his colleague Jeremy Berg with an outline for a set of cards that could be used to facilitate such contact. The result was The Card Deck of the Sidhe published by Lorian Press LLC that same year.

This Sidhe woman who headed up this project had a name which David could not pronounce or replicate in English, so she said he could call her "Mariel." The contact with her was not a regular event, but over the next decade, they had several conversations together, most of which were collected and published in 2014 in a book titled Conversations with the Sidhe. This book contains much introductory material explaining who Mariel is and the nature of the Sidhe themselves, with whom we humans apparently share an ancient, distant ancestor.

As more people have been using the Card Deck of the Sidhe or have read about the Sidhe, David has gotten many inquiries about what it means to engage with these beings. How can they help us? How can we help them? What does it mean to work with the Sidhe in our daily lives? How can we contact them? And, of course, there is always a curiosity about who they are and how they live.

These are questions that David had as well. During the years since Conversations with the Sidhe was published, he continued to have contact with Mariel. This book is a compilation of the further conversations between Mariel and David on a variety of topics.

The circle of the sidhe

The Circle of the Sidhe is comprised of a 168 page manual, four Sidhe decks totaling 89 cards representing the four elements: • The Sidhe Oracle of the Shining Moon–Air • The Sidhe Oracle of the Fleeting Hare–Earth • The Sidhe Oracle of the Glorious Sun–Fire • The Sidhe Oracle of the Flowing Waters–Water. It comes in an attractive carrying box with a fabric pouch for all the decks. The Sidhe suggested that when all four decks were completed and combined, from this linking would emerge a fifth element, that of Spirit. I just read Anne Gambling's Awakening to Home. It's a wonderful example of deep inner work and exploration in engagement with the subtle worlds, in using the Card Deck of the Sidhe, my book Conversations with the Sidhe, and other Sidhe material. This book is essentially a treasure of field notes of her explorations, and as such, I believe adds to the richness of the material developing around The Lorian Association's collaboration with the Sidhe. Anne's book reminds me of Lee Irwin's Alchemy of Soul or The Occult Diaries of R. Ogilvie Crombie by Gordon Lindsay, two books that require the reader's close attention and dedication. For those who are willing to spend the time and effort to discover the relevance of Anne's work in their own lives and home environments, their awareness and partnership with the Sidhe will be enhanced.
