Gaianeering Weekend Forum
The Art of Gaianeering
September 28 – October 1, 2017
We are in a time when understanding Gaia and learning to live in collaboration and harmony with this planetary life, becomes more essential than ever. In the face of climate change, it may even be a key to our survival as a civilization. We need to know the Gaian life in which we are immersed. We need to become Gaianeers.
This four-day online Forum offers an opportunity to explore the idea of Gaianeering, the work of collaboration with the multiple dimensions of Earth’s living ecologies. There are ways in which we can do this, from participating in efforts to protect and restore the environment around us to learning to love and bless the spiritual intelligences inherent in our buildings and artifacts. Perhaps most important is learning how we may discover a planetary energy within ourselves, becoming “Gaia” spiritually in our interactions with the world. Becoming Gaianeers in service to each other and the world is the theme of our Forum.
The Art of Gaianeering will be held on our new education website, Lorian Education. Drawing on insights from our summer Gaianeering Gathering, this weekend will explore the four faces of Gaia – Participation, Perception, Partnership and Presence. David Spangler will give two live and recorded talks on Friday and Sunday mornings Pacific Time. There will be practices to help you in “thinking like a planet” (Perceiving and Perception) in building your attunement and connection (Partnership) and in acting as a planet with the life-affirming and nurturing spirit of Gaia (Presence). Using our online education platform there will be the opportunity to discuss and explore these Gaian themes together in more detail.
Participants will have ongoing access to class materials, activities and discussion areas as part of your personal Learning Library. Additionally there will be two live webinars.
