Lorian's programs in Incarnational Spirituality are like a breath of fresh air. I have learned to engage my whole self-heart, mind, body, soul and personality-in creative partnership with the world as it is. I find an intimate space of generativity opening within me that supports my relationships and passion for my work in integral ecology. Thank you David and the loving Lorian faculty!" —AA, WA

There is something basically useful about all of this. The class offered a framework that was structured in a safe way with a demonstration of a path for connection that works." —KL, UK

The class gave me reassurance that I am moving in the right direction because it helped me feel more of myself. The tools offered strengthened my own inner knowing." —EJ, UK, France

We have been–and still are–in a time of alarms and noises, posturings and persuasions, tumult and tempest. To be of service in the world today, we must stand in a place of calm steadiness. In the midst of the storm, we must take time to look beyond to the mountains and the stars, the ancestors and the descendents and just appreciate the vastness of the world and of time and cosmos in which we live. Whatever happens tomorrow, the sun will rise, clouds will form, rain will fall, creatures will be born and die, and life goes on. We will love and create, our inner power undimmed, our spirit as Sacred as ever." —David Spangler

Connective Inquiry

with James Tousignant

August 10, 5pm PT

One of David Spangler’s inner colleagues once commented that “the problem with humanity is that you’re not incarnated enough.” Not incarnated enough?  How do we become incarnate enough?

In our work with Incarnational Spirituality, we explore incarnation in terms of being connected, connected through a shared wholeness.

Albert Einstein expressed it this way, “A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us.”

Our task to be incarnate enough calls us to embrace our life and all that it entails – our sense of self and purpose, our physical body, other people, the natural and man-made world around us, and the subtle realms that are the extended ecology of the Earth. Each is a unique expression of an inter- connected wholeness.

Where do we start? How do we begin to walk a path that is “incarnate enough” and let our incarnation lead us into wholeness?

Connective Inquiry, is one way.  It is a way of knowing-through-love that fosters connection and wholeness and therefore fosters incarnation.  It is a way of deepening inner dialog with the wholeness that connects, empowering inner knowing and life purpose.  It nurtures and builds our sense of connection.  It just takes a little courage, willingness to practice, and a spirit of adventure.
