Self-Study Modules

The Self StudyModules are designed to provide a flexible way for an individual or a group to learn the basic ideas and practices of Incarnational Spirituality without needing to fit a class schedule into their busy lives.  Each module is a unique combination of written text, audio tapes, and sometimes video presentations and other learning aids.  They are designed for you to study at your own leisure and pace in your home or to be the focus of a study group of friends or like-minded colleagues.

Four of the self-study modules present the core cosmology of Incarnational Spirituality and are designed to complement the more in-depth and application-oriented Path of the Chalice program. These are The Incarnational Way, Living Whole, Subtle Worlds, and Subtle Activism.

One of the modules, Finding the God Within, presents the teachings and work of Dorothy Maclean, one of the three Founders of the Findhorn Foundation community in northern Scotland, as well as a founding Lorian Associate. The rest of the self-study modules are based on David Spangler’s work in developing Incarnational Spirituality.

Although the modules can be purchased and used independently, their topics fall into natural groupings and we suggest the following order for their study:

About David Spangler

David Spangler has been a spiritual teacher since 1964. From 1970-1973, he was co-director of the Findhorn Foundation in Northern Scotland. In 1974 he co-founded the Lorian Association, a non-profit spiritual educational organization, and continues to work with it today. He is also a Fellow of the Lindisfarne Association, a gathering of scientists, mathematicians, artists, spiritual and religious teachers, ecologists, and political scientists, all interested in promoting a new culture based on holistic Gaian values. He is the author of numerous books including Incarnational Spirituality: A Strategy to Bless Our World; The Call; Blessing: The Art and the Practice; Subtle Worlds:  An Explorer’s Field Notes; and Facing the Future.

Energy Hygiene is an art, an attitude, a skill set and a gift we give to those around us. Crafting Spiritual Alliances is designed to present a new way to think about and understand the non-physical or "subtle' realms. In this module David Spangler teaches two levels of manifestation, one is the art of harmoniously shaping your world, the other is experiencing manifestation as a spiritual practice that aligns us with the deeper energies within creation and works with the invisible underlying order of the world around us.
