Board of Directors

DavidDan Paulson Spangler is a visionary, author and spiritual teacher. A lecturer and teachersince 1964, David has written numerous books which include: The Call,Everyday Miracles,Blessing: The Art and the Practice, Manifestation: Creating the Life You Love and Incarnational Spirituality.

From 1970 to 1973 David was a co-director of the Findhorn Foundation Community in northern Scotland. He is a co-founder of the Lorian Association and a Fellow of the Lindisfarne Association. Currently he serves as Director of the Lorian Center for Incarnational Spirituality and is primary faculty for the Path of the Chalice Program. 
David is married with 4 children and lives in Washington.

 

Freya Secrest, MSD is a spiritual director, and a founding member of the Lorian Board member, Freya SecrestAssociation. She has worked in the field of alternative education since 1974 in adult spiritual education and Waldorf school administration. She is one of the founding faculty members of the Lorian Center for Incarnational Spirituality and currently serves as Lorian’s administrator.

Freya has followed an incarnational approach in her personal study and practice for over 30 years. She is committed to relationships based in gratitude and invitation in her educational and spiritual direction work.
Freya lives in Washington with her husband, Jeremy.

 

Jeremy Berg, MCS is the coordinator for Lorian Education. He is a writer, workshop Board member, Jeremy Bergpresenter and architectural designer. He has taught at both the secondary and post secondary levels and served as a college dean and vice-president at Jordan College Energy Institute developing programs in energy-efficient technologies.

Spirituality, especially an applied incarnational approach, has been a passion for many years. He is the owner of Lorian Press, www.lorianpress.com.

 

Julie Spangler is a human relations counselor and Personology Board member, Julia Spanglerpractitioner. She is a mother of four and a parent education instructor. She began her spiritual work at the Findhorn Community in Scotland and was primarily involved in visitor education.  She was one of the singers in “The New Troubadours.” She is a founding member of the Lorian Association and has worked as one of its faculty.

Carole Matthews is a co-founder/partner in Matthews Technology, and has Carole Matthewsauthored, coauthored, or managed the production of computer-related books, mostly published by McGraw-Hill.

Carole first encountered Incarnational Spirituality in 1991. She experienced a compelling and resonating spirituality within it and continues to explore its depth and to integrate Incarnational Spirituality in her daily life.
Carole and her husband, Marty, live in Washington.

 

Ron Hays is the owner of Eagle Creek Natural Building, a sustainable construction Ron Hayesand remodeling company with a focus on healthy homes. He has been in the alternative construction field since 1980 and holds a degree in Environmental Science from Oregon State University.

A lover of the world of nature, Ron enjoys working with healing herbs. He has been exploring consciousness and spirituality for over 35 years, initially studying the teachings and practices of GI Gurdjieff. He is also a graduate of Michael Harner's Foundation for Shamanic Studies. 
Ron lives with his wife Christy and stepson Christopher in the Cascade foothills of western Oregon.

Jim Hembree, PhdJim Hembree, Ph.D., works in higher educational fundraising.  His doctorate in Comparative Literature focuses on early 17th-century French and English literature and the spiritual transformations then occurring. Jim seeks to build bridges between established faith traditions and today’s emergent spiritualities. He has participated in workshops with the Lorian Association since the early 1990s.
